Card Values and How Points Are Counted

In Tongits, each unmelded card in your hand carries a point penalty at the end of a round. Number cards are worth their face value — a 7 of spades counts as 7 points against you. Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) each carry 10 points, while Ace counts as 1. The goal is to form valid sets and runs to eliminate as

many high-value cards as possible before a Fight or a Draw is called. When a round ends, every card still sitting in your hand adds to your total penalty. The player with the lowest accumulated point total wins the pot for that round, unless one player achieves a full Tongits — emptying their hand completely — which ends the game outright regardless

of others' counts.

FAIR PLAY STANDARDS

How We Keep Tongits Fair at max7jili

Consistent Rule Set

Every Tongits table on the platform applies the same scoring logic — face card values, sapaw timing and Fight call resolution are identical whether you join from Makati or anywhere else in the Philippines.

Verified Shuffle and Deal

Tongits card distribution uses a certified random-number process. Each deal is independently generated, so no player has a positional advantage and the draw sequence cannot be predicted or manipulated.

Transparent Round Logs

After each Tongits round, the full card log — every draw, every discard, every meld played — is stored in your account. You can review the sequence and confirm how the final point count was reached.

Player-Reported Rule Queries

When a scoring question comes up — a disputed sapaw or an unclear Fight call — our support team reviews the round log against the published rule set and responds with a specific, traceable explanation.

Tongits Scoring Glossary

01
What does 'Tongits' mean as a win condition?

Tongits is declared when a player discards their last card and empties their hand completely. It ends the round immediately and the declaring player wins regardless of other players' point totals.

02
What is a 'sapaw' in Tongits?

Sapaw means adding cards to a meld already on the table — either your own or another player's. It is a legal move that helps you reduce the point value still sitting in your hand.

03
What is a 'Fight' call in Tongits?

A Fight call challenges another player to reveal their hand and compare totals. The player with the lower unmelded point count wins the pot at the moment the Fight is declared.

04
What is a 'Draw' in Tongits?

A Draw occurs when the stock pile runs out and no player has gone Tongits. All players reveal their hands and the one holding the lowest unmelded point total wins that round.

05
What is 'burning' in Tongits?

Burning is when a player who has not yet melded or drawn from the discard pile passes their turn without taking a card. It signals little hand activity and affects eligibility to call a Fight.

06
What does 'unmelded points' mean?

Unmelded points are the total face values of cards in your hand that have not been placed into a valid set or run. This is the score counted against you when a round ends.

Common Tongits Scoring Questions

Jack, Queen and King each count as 10 points against you if they remain unmelded when the round ends. Getting them into a valid set or run eliminates that penalty entirely.

In Tongits, Ace always counts as 1 point — not 11 like in some other card games. It is one of the lower-penalty cards to hold if you cannot meld it before the round closes.

Yes — that is what sapaw is for. You can lay off matching cards onto any visible meld on the table, including your opponents', to reduce the unmelded point total still in your hand.

When point totals are equal after a Draw, the standard rule applied on our tables is that the player who called the Draw wins the tie. Check the round log in your account to confirm how any specific result was resolved.

Yes. A player who burned three consecutive times without drawing or melding is not allowed to call a Fight for that round. This rule prevents passive play from stalling the game unfairly.

If a declared Tongits is found to contain an invalid meld — for example, fewer than three cards in a set — the declaration is void. The round continues and the declaring player's hand is exposed to all opponents.
